Paulo Pires is 50 years old, Portuguese and married.

With a Degree in physics from the Lisbon Sciences University, he has worked in the Portuguese National Institute for Industry and Technology Engineering performing applied research on optoelectronics, applied optics, lasers, holography, satellite communications, micro and nano structures and many other areas.

For more than 16 years worked in the area of High Security documents, covering all aspects ranging from documents production up to end 2 end life cycle systems.

Between 2014 and 2017 worked for the European Commission as policy officer for high security documents.

Currently he’s product manager and developer at the Portuguese National Printer for high Security documents and systems and Scientific Adviser and chair of the Science Board of Projecto2037.
